Cheech and I made a spur of the moment decision to wet a line Thursday afternoon.
Fresh bait was going to be a problem because of the short notice , but hey I would rather be fishing than stuch in the office.
Gateway was a parking lot so we headed for cabbage tree creek ramp. got to our spot a bit after 5pm
With wind against tide getting the boat in position was a bit of trial and error but we eventually were satisfied and set a burley going.
Lots of undersized everything started coming in, with the quality improving slightly as the sun went down.
We ended up with a couple of squirey snaps a bream , moses perch and tuskie , nothing much to beat our chests about.
We stayed a bit longer, after the tide turned trying to get a couple of decent fish and were rewarded with some good runs that ended in swearing and knashing of teeth.
A couple of these were obviously sharks while others were suspiciously like big snapper.
Came home late across near millpond conditions, with "just" a feed but it was a great night to be out in the bay, as always the fish are a bonus.
The funny thing was that as we were setting up at the start I called it as "my night for a pb" and a couple of the runs I had would certainly have made that true.
I dont know why ,,, I can hook em but I just cant land em:-/
Anyway next time , Ill nail one.
Cheers
