Left clontarf 4.15am. Arrived at spot x at 4.35am. not bad trip over, then just went flat. With half hr had 2 x 42cm snaps and 1 x 37cm snap.
Over next couple hrs caught lots arond the 32cm mark and did they fight. Really surprised me when then went on the brag mat.
Hope they will be bigger next time.
About 8am the wind changed and came from the west and was blowing boat around and by this time it was all over so we headed for the 4 beacons. Not a bird. Few bait bait fish. Kept on travelling up past tanga, thought whers this curt reef. Water was really rushing through. Went up to bulwer, never been up that far. Still no macks.
Decided to head back to m9, got few livies, got small mack on the bait jig.
Then in the distance water splasing everywhere. Couldnt move fast enough. Flat strap i went, got in 2 cast but nothing and then they dissappeared. About 11am by this time and getting pretty choppy so decided to head home.
Ended up being reasonable trip home and about half way just flattened out. Sat on comfortable 25knots rest of way.
Just about to take couple fillets and put in pan. Snap for dinner.
Worst part about whole day, didnt christen new rod and reel i bought for the macks. Cheers Greg

Lippa, i know the feeling about the ornament.
I was surprised at the ramp. It was pretty well low, and had no problem getting out. Had motor well in the water. Still muddy on edges but at least u can get out on low.
Couldnt have done that 2 months ago.
Got good shower of rain over at m9 about 10am.
On way back, looking behind, couldnt even see tanga, bit rain clouds and couldnt even make out coastline of reddi or woody pt, till prob well over half way home.
What did we do before GPS?
Prob just relied on the compass

Cheers

It looked like every one was after a mackerel today, In all my travels around the bay i only saw 1 pod of small mack tuna working the surface and they were very frustrating as well. However its not long now and there will be surface activity every along moreton and you will be landing more macks and tuna with the new combo then you know what to do with;D. Your also not wrong about the rain clouds it poured down around tangas while is was there but cleared up and turned into a beaut day.

Cheers Chris
