Ask around and get recommendations of good cooling system specialists in your area

nice, thanks, we already tried all our trusty cooling system specialists in our local area but no one had a clue, hence we are asking on the net!
cheers

Where do you live, Mars? It's a 4 cyl car with a radiator FFS, the mechanics around you must be useless IMHO.
Seriously where are you at?

Apparently they can be recored using an econovan radiator.

Possibly a sportage one will fit - same manufacturer.

Try the kia dealer for genuine spares.

Sorry, should clarify my post a little bit.
I get tired of hearing that mechanics won't bother to look past the front door when quoting on something a little different. I have owned French cars for years, wouldn't own anything else and the amount of times I heard (in best nasily drone) nah mate, it's French, wouldn't touch it, can't get parts.

I'd bet there is even an overseas supplier who could send you parts for less than what you'd pay here for them and that's including freight.

I would think there would be someone around who could recore the radiator for you. This is the road best followed when everyone says parts are hard to obtain, get what you have repaired/rebuilt
Your best bet would be to call an engine reconditioner/rebuilder who specialises in performance work. WHy? Because he would know of someone who could recore or build you a new one, preferably in aluminium because it'd be best for beach work.:)

the problem with mechanics is that we get sick and tyred of chasing up parts for odd ball vehicles only for the people that you are quoting for to tell you if I had known it was going to be that expensive I wouldnever have bought the bloody thing . mechanics are not all that bad . without us who would keep your wheels turning?

Not sure if the oddball bit is a dig or just a jest.;D
The problem form the point of view of many people with out of the ordinary and un-boring cars is that mechanics see it as an opportunity to charge twice the going rate and more 99% of the time>:(:-X 'nuff said.

nezzy...any joy as yet....still haven't found out where you are

Sorry but my advice to you is get rid of it and buy something else.:'(
My brother owned on and just trying to get a tranfer case and other minor parts was nothing more and noyjing less but a headache. I tried every wrecker from here to Perth and back again and it was a nightmare just trying to find the simplest of parts.

Originally built for Malaysian military and only 500 exported to UK. Even less in Australia i believe. We needed a $50 part which ended uo costing $150 to be shipped from malaysia.
If I had my choice of a pushbike or a Rocksta-- i'd take the pushie. ;)

Good Lick but if you get it fixed sell it.:-X
