Got up this motning before the sparrow farted and off to the rockwalls. By 5am I had both lines in and the waiting game began. At 6:45am I finally had a fish................a 20cm Grunter. Gave him a kiss and told him to call his mama. He did not. At 6:55 my dead herring from Mozzas spot took off. I grabbed the rod and set the 5/0ircle. A few leaps and a few runs later I landed "OLD PINK EYES". A nice salty that went 77cm. Whilst taking a pic another fisherman arrived on the scene and I took advantage of that and got him to take a pic with me holding the Barra. Pity about the off season but good fun anyway. Put him back carefully and one big kick and off he went.

Happy fishing

Nice barra mate. Gotta be happy with that. In season or out of season still gets the heart pumping when that real takes off!

Good to see you in the photo, Kev!

Lovely fish. Well done.

Terrible problem we have here at the moment. Can't get a bait past the plagues of barra to be able to catch a decent feed! :P Can't imagine we'll get a lot of sympathy from the southerners.

Ah well, I s'pose everyone has their cross to bear.

Cheers,
Brian.

Comes the 1st Feb........the barra will have had just about enough of our baits and lures and we might have to work real hard again to come up trumps. We might catch a feed then............well hopefully before then

Great fish Kev... It would've been a bit of a mission trying to climb back up those rocks holding onto that fella....

It seems that "old Pink Eyes" are everywhere at the moment..... Let's hope they hang around till the open season...

Cheers

Well done Kev, bit of jealousy here after reading that...

Put in the effort and you came out on tops - in season or out mate, got to be happy with that! 8-)

Good catch Kev, it's all good practice for when the season re-opens!
It's good to see regular reports coming out of Townsville these days, awhile back they were few and far between.
Keep them coming Kev and the rest of us Northern Ausfishers!

I am also hoping that things improve a bit. Last year this time I was getting heaps of Grunter everytime I put a line in. I am yet to catch something decent. I am hoping that the SE winds bring about some Grunter change

cheers.................will keep you posted

Great looking fish Kingkev. Like the others said it doesn't matter if you catch one in or out of season, the thrill is still the same.

Keep them coming.

Work can be a pain in the ass but try and work around work on your way home go and flick a few lures or plastics, or even on our way to work your might be suprised as to how good your day becomes at work after a bit of fishing.

Cheers Rod....
