Left nudgee today around 11.30am. Late start I know but with the weather abating for a few hours, I made the most of the conditions. Got to Mud about 15 minutes later and sounded around, found the bait, worked out the drift line, and rods out. The first fish took me by suprise, being that it took the placcy about 5 seconds after it hit the water. Little fella sent home to mummy. A couple of minutes later I am hit by a freight train on the 14lb outfit with the tell tale head thumps of a big snapper. No problem, its a 4000 stradic, holds plenty of line, it will stop soon, surley its going to stop soon. Half the spool was gone and then the line went limp. Got the placcy back and hardly a mark on it. Snapper for sure and it was a biggun. No more big ones after that. Anyhow to cut a long story short ended up back at the ramp at 3.30pm with 5 keepers from 48cm to 57cm and they all came from the sounder1 picture below. I have include some sounder shots for those that asked about it last time I wrote a report.

The first pic is prawns I think. There were a few trawlers about and two guys in tinnys throwing cast nets getting prawns. This shot was taken in the middle of all that with the gain turned up a bit.

Mate. Don't worry about the sounder shots. Just take one of your GPS ;D. It will save me a lot of time finding the spot;)
Nice to see a good feed of snapps hit the deck. Those northerlies have been putting me off Mud recently. Another blow out coming up I think
Goods to know at least someone is getting a bit of action
Cheers

well done Foggy, shame about the one that got away. Havent been out there for a few weeks now with various things planned. From the reports it has been quiet so it was good to see you nail a few.
Usual spot I presume?

Big one took a 7" gulp in camo. And I am leaving the big ones for you mate.
Craig,
The fish were concentrated a bit further south. I have found the southern end of the drift works better on those big outgoing tides.
Silent,
Conditions were a lot better than expected. Went over at 55k/h and back at 65k/h. Weather bureau not even close. Probably had about 7-9 knots most of the time.
