Decided to see if the recent rain had any effect on the water temp and if so what the outcome would be on the Jacks.
Hit the water a little later than usual around 10am. It's not to bad tho as this particular stretch of water only really takes a couple of hrs to fish.
3rd cast and a nice cod hit the deck. The first of about 4 for the day all up around the 50's.
Didn't take long for a nice little red to get netted but not before giving me a little fright deep under cover. Extracted him from his cover and he gave up pretty quick.
The rain came down for about an hr and things went very quiet. Dropped a decent Jack on the big placky and saw 4 jacks (2 were pups) attack my prawn for nil hookups. :(
The sun came back out and I boated another small pup before calling it quits and heading home.
Productive sesh with water temp down around 24 degrees all day. Only small fellas I know but as the saying goes, "a Jack's a Jack".
Besides, I've been told only Nick gets the big fellas. :P
Cheers,

Richie (gaining ground slowly)

well done Rich,
mate a jack is a jack so keep em coming mate.
Its encouraging that they are still biting in this cool snap.

Hey what rod is that rigged on the zillion and how do you find it...?
Ive just ordered my zillion from Japan and now have the job of finding a suitable rod. Any tips on a suitable rod mate.......il be chasing jacks on hardbidies mainly

Richie mate when are you going to Darwin? I just have to take you fishing with me before you go so I can suck your brain of all that fishing info. I would just kick myself If i didnt try before you left.

Cheers fellas.
Swaters: the reel is a Zillion mate. Great reel and smooth as.

Yella: The rod is a Loomis 6'3 Crankbait series. A little heavy for what I'm doing at the moment but will be ideal for when I get up Darwin and chase big barra, threadies and of course JACKS!

Lovey: mate I shoot off on the 24th of November. Should be an interesting drive up I reckon.

Richie ;)

PS: Gun lure today was Lively lure Mad mullet in ghost grey fished on 16lb leader.

Onya Rich, good stuff mate.

The water temp up here has dropped 3 degree to 20!
I was out yesterday chasing reddies for zilch.
I think I recall a recent thread of yours or whyteys that said temp was 27?
If that's the case it also has dropped 3 degree down your way????

Cheers Jeff.

Some nice fish Richie
You must be getting close to Whities tally now.
Better tell Whitey to pick another colour when he paints your face cause if he keeps using white we will have to refer to you as Michael.....

All i can say is you better be putting bigger bream in the boat this weekend than those pups;D

All that local knowledge gone forever? are you gonna auction off your info? I reckon you could get $200-300 for a ride in your boat.

Better than paying a local charter for info. If your not coming back.......you should think about it. Im sure Whitey wont mind.....lol.

cheers
