I was talking to the bloke down at my local welding suppliers yesterday, & he recons that one of his customers uses worn out oxy cutting nozles as casting & trawling plugs.

give em bit of a polish up on a belt or wheel rigg em up and away you go.

because of the drillings for the gas they leave a bubble trail.... and they would have to cast like a bullet..........& I dont think toothy critters would bother them.

So who's gona give this one a try and report back?;D

What other unlikely things have you used to catch fish.

cheers

one of the best casting "slugs" is just a plain old barrel sinker, just slide it up the line, tie on a hook and your done (just like an old Tassie devil I guess) you can get the long skinny ones, or the short fat ones (like me I'm short and fat) they work a treat and cost bugger all.

I used to get in trouble for cutting up the old ladys good teaspoons, can sometimes be difficult to drill holes in for mounting split rings but the spoon shape gives an excellent swimming action.

When I was a young fella the only bait I used in a trap was an empty coke can. Never let me down.
