This i think has been done before , but cannot find it. Could anyone point me in right direction for rod and reel set up to chase the mackeral.
I was down at that sports store today and was shown a shim tcc4 and okuma 6.2 1.
I was thinking of getting a rod around 8ft with little bit of whip in the tip to get those slugs out there.
What do u all think.
Cheers

Here are 3 threads discussing this matter going back about 6 pages in this section. There are also several threads discussing tss4 availability. Personally for bay spinning i think tss4's are a waste of time. Go down a reels size and a 7-8ft graphite rod in the 4-8kg line class. Probably not a bad starting point for bay spotties chucking 20-30gram metals is a 4000 shimano symetre with a 7'6" 4-8kg berkley dropshot with either 12lb mono or 12-15lb braid. rod reel and line will set you back about 250-260.

Albeit old school you can't go past a TSS4 and Live Fibre make a really good 8 foot spinrod which is just perfect for spinning for Mackeral.
If you want to put speed in the slugs and want a long lasting, tough, knock about reel you can't go past the TSS4, the line lay isn't perfect but it isn't an issue, this isn't finesse fishing. If you have a reasonable budget go for the 5000 New Stradic and a 7'+ graphite rod.;D

Thanks lippa. I was going to look at the okuma as well. The tss4 was $160 and okuma $99. Also they are not making the tss4 anymore. So if anyone is really wanting one, buy it now.
I will have a look at that big tackle shop at nerang today.
