Thought about making my own sinkers ... is it worth all the troubles or what ? I would want size 6 through to 10 for the reef.

It would be worth it if you can get lead cheaply, have time to make it, and use alot of them.

Like Owen said if you can get your lead cheap its definitely worth it. I also find its a good excuse to sit in the shed and suck on a stubby no matter what the price of lead is!

Hey Rumy,

Making sinkers is not just about the end product but the process...Get a few mates over, a slab, get everyone involved, everyone pitches in, the holy water flows, along with other yarns, dreamin' the dream, good time had by all and 20kgs of sinkers of various sizes to share around.

For some things there is master card...other things...priceless!!!!

Cheers

i make my own slugs and jig heads, i have heaps of scrap lead at my disposal so it isn't really an issue. definately worth it if you go offshore heaps and fish big balls and tear drops. For me it has saved me a couple of hundred bucks in slugs over a year and a bit (can make a chrome plated slug up with a good quaility vmc treble for about 1.20). I'm starting to get low again (down to about 50-60 from the 180 i made) so i'm going to have to make up a few more this summer.
