After pulling the plug on a trip to the reef off Mission beach on tuesday due to the weather, today was the last chance before the reef closure and the forecast was not so bad.
Picked up Carl around 3AM and were underway from the ramp about half an hour later.
Soon as we went around the rockwall I knew we were in for a pounding.
Bit of a steep closely spaced swell and we were aiming directly into it.
"Ahh.. we have got all day"was Carl's response.
Well 3 hours and 50 k's later we decided to put out some lures and troll the last 5k's as this was the speed we were travelling anyway.
So we finally reached my nannigy spot at 7 am.Trip took 3.5 hours....ouch....http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/../yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/undecided.gif
Started fishing both bottom and floating pillies and a live bait.
Just nothing was happening.
finally caught a quality trout,a smaller trout and a long nosed emperor but not much else.
Pulled in lines to move and watched a spanish mac follow my pilly to the back of the boat..bloody frustrating.
Pulled up at the next spot and the largemouth nanny's were biting. Landed seven before the bite stopped and Carl was happy as these were his first nanny's and he did well to land them.
Scored a couple more trout,a cobia and a small shark mackeral but dissapointingly we did not land a spanish mackeral for the day.
Anyway we got a feed,Carl got to land his first nanny's and the trip home took a little over an hour. Both of us were just glad to be out on the water for the day.Though we are both very sore and sorry.
PS.. Who actually invented boats made out of tin?
