Went out at around 4:30am, it was just light and there was a bit of cloud around. Dropped a couple of pots in the river and headed out towards Otter Rock. Anchored a couple of hundred metres inside the beacon next to what I believe is Otter Rock (I may be wrong but have never found anything closer to the beacon). I was persisting with plastics and my mate was using prawns – we also floated a pilchard out the back. Moved spots a couple of times and had a drift.
No fish except an undersized whiting – saw a couple of other boats south of us and they did not appear to do any good.
Headed back in, grabbed the pots – 2 small sandies. Drop off my mate and headed back to Dohles Rocks to try again with the plastics during the turn of the tide. Still nothing, but I had a couple (well at least one) good hit. I really need to learn how to fish with plastics.
