Nice barra Kev. But how come you kept the trev. I'd use it for crab bait. Not much eating compared to the barra.

You are sooooooooo wrong Dunco. The entree to the Barra was SASHIMI trevally. Very thinly sliced , dipped in Soy and wasabi. YUMMMMMMM
My wife is Japanese and we firmly believe that fresh is best.

Nice catch Kev, looks like your luck has turned around. Wish I could say the same for me, headed out last night and trolled the breakwalls for barra, there was plenty of surface action, but they just weren't interested in our lures. Probably would've done better on live bait, but I left all that gear at home. At the end of the night on my new "last chance wall" (Mozza knows about this one, he showed me) I got a little GT that wouldv'e went 30-35cm but he went back.

Never mind Scott.........The law of averages say that if you fish for Barra often enough you will eventually come up trumps. I am now trying for a legal Jack. Never caught a legal Jack and hoping that a trip to the Haughton on Monday will do it for me
cheers

Great fish there Kev, congrats again.
The old man hit the river with some good sized live mulet on monday. Lots of action from barra up and down the river, but they weren't interested in his baits.
No interest in herring either, the only fish he landed was a small trevally on a SP.
He tells me the Midges were thick enough to walk on

Nice fish there Kev. Crystal is such a nice little creek. Was up there the other week with a really high tide, and went up a fair way... So much fallen timber on those banks

The tide was pretty high when we were there and I could not get over the colour of the water. This turquoise haze against the banks looked great and I was also surprised at how clear the water was. I am sure that everything that came past would have spotted my dead herring on a 4/0 hook.
Nice fishing spot.

Once I get the carpet glued to the new floor of the boat this weekend, I might head up for a bit of landbased casting/livebaiting, depending what works on the day. I've never fished crystal lb before, does anyone have any ideas on where to start?
If anyone wants to join me, I've got a seat in my car and plenty of room in the back for fishing gear, eskies chairs, etc. Any one interested can pm me, I'll even pick you up from your place. If I get up there and catch a barra, I'm gonna scream, after all the effort I went to over the last couple of weeks to yeild not even a rat, I'm gonna be mighty annoyed to say the least.
