I have a couple of overhead rods and I don't have any reels to suit. Can I use the eggbeater reels on them.

Certainly, they will work ok, if you dont have to cast long distances with them.
Having said that, these rods are designed and built to use with the runners facing up, rather than down, but in a pinch they should be ok.
After all, forty years ago people were using rods made from bamboo.............
Cheers.

Hi Darryl
Good to meet you tday the shops. BigW, you were takin about as much time as me to make a selection, fishing junkies I guess.
I had ar ead on your posts and some good info from yourself and all the other guys.
Im new to this part of QLD after 20 yrs in NQ, its good to hear there are a few macs around.
I put in one sat am at Scarborough and never saw so many boats heading out in all my life, so it freaked me out a bit thinkin this place has to be overfished!
Im gonna give the flatties a go on SP as they are good catching and taste just great!
Cheers

Barraboy7, Great to meet an another self confessed" ADDICT". Mate as I said there are still plenty of fish around the Bay. You just have to spend a little time sussing out a few spots. The guys on this site are only too pleased to pass on a bit of info if they can. Look forward to seeing you on the water.

There is one problem I can see ! ......... The overheads are built on the spine ( backbone) while spin rods are under the spine .......... Which means the rod may want to twist under load! ....... You'll end up fighting the rod & the fish!
Try bending the rod opposite the normal curve & see what happens??? .... Nagg
