I've had a tld for a few months now, spool with 24kg trilene game line. Currently it's on an el cheap ebay rod. I'm looking at getting a decent rod for the reel.

Price range is up to $250.

I use a Live Fibre 7' 15-24kg that does the job OK. There are some cheaper Penn and Silstar rods that look pretty good to me as well

Cheers

I have a couple of the Shimano Backbone rods that go well with TLD 25's. They are the 15-24kg boat rod and are 6'6". Not the shorter roller tipped models. But the Live Fibres are a great rod for those reals if you are happier to spend a bit more. The backbones are around $130.

I use the Tyrnos 15-24 with a TLD 20 running 15kg for live bait/troll. Good value and well within budget. A Tyrnos handle make a great improvement on the old TLD one and now come standard on the two speed TLD.

I use a Gary Howard special from BCF with this reel and it seems like a good match.

I think the Contenders are a great choice - very resilient as well.
