Had a safari snorkle fitted to 2006 triton 4wd work ute with expectations of maybe better fuel consumption only to find that it got worse up to 100km less per tank. has any one had same trouble:-/

How long ago did the snorkle go on? Usually it will take a couple of 100kms before the computer recalibrates the increased amount of air coming though the intake and therefore adjusts the fuel/air mix. Have you put a High Flow Filter (i.e. K & N or Uni) on? This will make a slight difference as well. When I put the snorkle on the Prado I thought that I would have noticed a decrease in fuel consumption, but I would have to say it was only minor. Saying that, I wouldn't have gotten into some the places that I have been without it ;)

I wouldn't rely on a snorkel for fuel economy. When I put mine on my Trol there was a slight, very slight increase in power but no difference in fuel economy.

Aparently it can take up to 500km for the computer to learn what it needs to know.

Im not sure about tritons. Are we talking deisel or petrol? But usually bigger cube engines love snorkles and as playdo98 said, you have to match it with a good hiflow air filter and usually also a hiflow exhaust system. But mostly it increases your torque more and not so much your power, unless you have an engine that has been starving for air.

I fitted a Safari Snorkel to the 3ltr TD Navara 4 x4 and have noticed a small difference in power and economy.

fuel went from 11.2 to 11ltrs/100 and a noticable increase in power in mid rpm range. I can also hear the turbo now. Note to self..... turn up volume on doof doof !!! ::)
