Gday guys, has anyone had any experience, good or bad with Fin-Nor spinning reels?
The offshore range looks very tough and the largest, the 95, would maybe rival the Penn 950 and Spheros 14000, especially with its huge line capacity of 375m of 30lb mono or 600m of 100lb braid. And for $200 Aus. delivered its not too bad.
Any thoughts?

Bought a 2500 size reduced to $39 from $89. Plenty of ball bearings and seems fairly smooth but the timber knob fell off after about 5 hours use. Sorry my only experience had not been good.

I have been looking at those as well for the same reasons. They have recently undergone dramatic redesign since Zebco took over and I have heard a few good things about the newer models from a pro fisherman I know (he recommends the Ahab)...but the past reputation isn't great and storys like these have kept me from making any purchases yet. The line capacity and big brakes make them attractive though. Other good (maybe better) alternatives apparently are the big Tica Taurus and Dolfin models. They also have had a bad rep in the past and have undergone recent redesigns but there seems to be solid positive info on the web about these two models especially. The new Taurus is supposed to be a great "poor man's Stella."

The Ahab is the best model except for the weight.

If your going to import one also consider the big quantum Cabo 80, the ceramic drags are great. I have a few smaller quantum's and so far so good.
