Recently purchased some Crystal fireline. Until now i've been using the green and smoke.. Never had much luck with smoke for some reason. Anyway what colours do you prefer?. :)

I use 4lb green for tossing itty bitty lures. The main reason for this colour choice is because I can actually see it. My eye's are stuffed, I tried the smoke colour and could hardly see where the lures landed. I guess the pink would be easy to see, but the only downside is that it's, well.......pink, and you'll never get a hairy chest using pink fishing line;D

good day all
Same for me.Green is quite visable for softies/lures.Comes into its own on dull overcast days.Use 4 lb green on softie trout gear and it works a treat.

ive found the green we've had has faded pretty quick, but the pink has kept its colour well, both get nice and soft imo but ive got some smoke on a reel now and its sh i t, pretty hard and gets knots plus you cant see it very weel.

im yet to get crystal but may try it if not ill invest in some stren

I use green & pink with no real favorite out of the two. I hate Crystal had bad batches in 2 & 4lb & i would never use it again...

I don't like fireline much but i have some 2lb crystal on a reel. it certainly casts well...bloody tricky to tie knots in tho'. as for colours......pink or green but don't smoke...it will give ya cancer :)

Pink all the way. High vis and easy to see. Fireline is fireline and it will fray and weaken with time.
Other than that my other reels have crystal; 3lb, 4lb, 8lb and 10lb. Makes up the bulk of what I use apart from Castway which is blue that I throw for Jacks.

I have had two bad batches of pink so I stay clear of it. I will probably stay with crystal now as my 8lb has done a huge amount of work on everthing from spotties to snapps and still looks like new.

8lb crystal rocks and the 4lb crystal, i started using is since it hit the shops and i think it is great. i had 2 bad lots of pink as well and2 lots of smoke. i started on the smoke on my abu back in darwin as a kid. it worked then but the crystal is so much better now than the old fireline use to be.

I thought the colour was more about how and when to use it, like lure colours...

As it was explained to me...the bright colours are for low light conditions when you need to be able to see the line...the clear and light colours for really clear water when you don't want to spook the fish...

Who knows...but there is no way I am rigging up pink line on my rod...and I am not going to start calling it "salmon" either to make it sound more "metrosexual"...lol

I'm pretty sure smoke is meant for clear waters. So i'm gathering the majority that use it are bay and offshore fisho's?

i use the crystal mainly 14lbs but my spare spool is smoke 6lbs for the bream for some strange reason i cant get bream on plastics with the crystal but slay em on the smoke

off topic i know but for chuckin the metals of the stones i use the yellow from finns just for visibillty factor

richie that castaway pe is bloody awesome line well worth the cost

Ive had bad spools in all the colours. I still think it is the best line for light spinning work. I use crystal for my 1,2,3lb Green for my 4lb spools and pink for my 6lb. Will never use fireline over 8lb as its too thick for spinning reels and there are alot better options out there.

I use crystal because i can buy a spool and know it will tie a leader, other fireline you can buy new and it will pop like cotton when you tie a leader so its 8lb crystal for snapps and 4lb for estuary fish.

Crystal......for some reason it doesn't seem to 'loop' off the reel like the other firelines.

Crystal for me too, i like the look of it and i also like the lower breaking strains that are available with it, particularly 3lb for sp's in the dam for bass

does having different coloured line effect fish biting? like are they less likey to bite on pink line when apposed to green or is it more for the angler to see where his line is?

For me i like to be able too see my line so i prefer bright colours.I dont think the colour effects th fish as you should use a Mono or Fluero leader anyway.
I prefer the lighter lines thats why i use Crystal in 1,2 and 3 lb.

I've read a lot about the different underwater colour spectrums that fish see in, or don't see in. How red disappears at a certain depth etc.
Every line maker claims that there colour is the best at doing this:-/ .
Still not convinced so I use a long flurocarbon leader just to be sure.

Smoke all the way....love it.
The green stuff is horrible and I know many peolpe who have had trouble with the green.

Most of mine have smoke with one or two having green. Didn't even know there was a difference in quality between the colors, I haven't had any dramas with either.

Started out using smoke fishing the reefs off the goldie. Worked well. Now i fish the bay with plastics (very shallow). I dont really think it matters what colour I use as i use a leader of about 4-5 metres anyway. ???

I use green and smoke, seemed to do better with the green, not real sure why, just nice and easy for me to see i think, eyes arent as good as they use to be!

I never thought that I would visit an Australian fishing chat room and encounter quotes from Oscar Wilde. That sort of thing only happens late at night on bass comps when the full malt is produced.
4lb crystal will out fish smoke anytime in my experience, Your leader can be shorter or you can be put it right to the snap. My favourite option.
It didn't worry the 57cm wild bass I landed last week.
