water in Transom

Hi

I was installing my new sounder and when I pulled the old transuder off there was water coming out from the holes.

The new transducer went into a spot to the left of the old one and i got more water from that as well, the transom seems to be solid?

Is there anything I can do about it before I have to replace the whole bloddy thing?

Oh yeah it is an old Coxcraft Rumrunner, Glass hull.

If the water that came out was dirty it's the old plywood saying goodbye.Some transoms rot from the top down but most rot from the bottom up,when the fibreglass skin is removed from the inside of the transom you will get a shock how bad it really is.:o cheers jim

Do you have the aluminium piece of trim that cover's the top of the transom?? if so they leak badly, saltwater will delay rot, washdowns from fresh water/rain water will promote it. Glycol antifreeze has been well shown to kill rot in it's tracks, feel free to pour as much of that down from the top as you can fit in to season through the wood, it has the advantage of finding every spot the water did, repeat every 6 months but get onto it now regardless of how the water got in!!
