Been thinking of purchasing a Daiwa Exceler 3500 spinning reel and wondered does anyone have one or heard any reports, good or bad, on their performance.
They seem quite reasonable, if you go by Daiwa specs, but then again dont they all.

The specs read ok. 7 bb is ok for that price. I'd say they are not a bad buy.

I have a couple in 2500 size. They are a very nice smooth reel. I would recommend them for anthing not to heavy duty.

Excellers are very popular reels.

digitally cut gears, water proof drag, even a machined handle all for under $140

these are a great reel that will perform well in both salt and freshwater,

my brother just bought an excellor plus in 2500, i have the cy in the 2500.....they are pretty much the exact reel, i personally think they are great. i would use them for any estuary fishing, i would use them for snapper, dolphinfish, tailor, trevally, small kingies, salmon, bonito, small tuna....you know what, i would even have a crack at larger tuna as well, but i have always been like this. I caught the jew on my avatar on a daiwa regal-z 3500 and it went 25kg on 6kg line. So personally for the money I think they are a great reel. Sean
