OK Team.

I have soughted out what I want and need you to help refine my choice.

I will acquire the Saltist 40H and mate it with my 7ft 15-24kg Live Fibre.

I now want to mate a rod with the TYR30 for trolling, live baiting and balloon fishing off boat. Minimal bottom bashing will be performed with this setup. Most likely, 55lb schnieder mono will be used. No jigging will be performed. Ideal guides are to be Alconite/silicon.

Here are my choices:

Gforce 700m 15-24kg
Tcurve Tyrnos Heavy (15-24kg RT)
Penn Powerstick Pro Game 2255HG
T-curve Deep Jig 400
Pioneer Tuna power stroker rod
Backbone Elite Game

Your thoughts/recommendations please?

I have some of these myself, Tyrnos Heavy, Deep Jig, and BBone Elite. Out of the three my preference is definitely for the Tyrnos Heavy for the uses you outlined.

Tcurve Tyrnos Heavy (15-24kg RT)
because this is the rod my dad has i think and i personally really like it. So does he. Really nice because it s a slow action rod. Especcialy for the reasons you have stated.

THanks -

What is the advantage of slow action rod. What does this mean?

Is the line type I chose ideal?

Does the bulkiness of the TYR30 suit the Heavy as well?

Yep the T-Curve Tyrnos Heavy with the Tyrnos 30 reel. I have this combination and use 24kg mono for trolling and love it.

Hey dudes.

Where can I get this rod in Australia now?

It seems all the shops I ring have sold out.

THe shop people always tell me the T-Curve Heavy is the same as the Tiagra 15 Standup.

Tell me they are wrong.

They are wrong.

The Tyrnos Heavy is 6' and uses Fuji guides whereas the 15 Standup is 5' 9" and uses Aftco guides.

I am sure the Tiagra is a better rod, but at more than twice the price it would want to be!

A slow action rod is great for pelagics and your useages for it because they are bendy through the whole rod .This can be to your benifit if you are dropping your rod to fast, The tension will stay on the line the whole drop.
Hopes this helps,
cheers,
Jamie
