Some weeks back a member was complaining about his late model millionaire and Daiwa in general.I am in agreeance with all legitimate complaints, as some corporations need a good spray from time to time.
However I have two millionaires a 5H and a 6H.Both these reels have turned 30 years old and have been magnificent performers with regular maintenance. The 5H finally called it quits in the level wind area with the worm gear totally worn out.The 6h recently stripped the drive gear on the largest spanish I have ever had on.

Trying to make one out of two I susequently stuffed them both.As these reels were very expensive at the time and came with a lifetime guarantee(whatever that means?)I put Daiwa to the test via Email.Expecting no reply or"We at Daiwa pride ourselver as leaders,Blah,Blah,Blah-------But due to the age etc we regret we are unable---etc) NO SIR,two days later I received a simple reply without fanfare Quote"Ron we can still do those parts for you at no charge, please email your postal address" end Quote. 1 week later I had those parts in a plain postpack now both reels are as good as new.

I have a Pfleuger some Penns,Shimano and Okuma all are great for my purpose but I do stop to wonder What If?? in 30 years.Hats off to Daiwa and thumbs up to a no nonsense guy called Raef Johnson in the service department. Cheers all.

Raef is a good man.....I recently had trouble with some bearings in line rollers and he looked after me the same.

Good service.

great service every now and again. i have a customer who was waiting for a spool for a saltiga reel for over 9 months. every 2 weeks i rang the service department but still got the same usless response. the customer was about to throw his daiwa out to sea when one phone call he made to the service department asking whats the hell was going on. the very next day a spool was at his door step at his home. this is not the only time this has happened. so if you ever need parts all you have to do is ring daiwa direct and it seems youll get better service than some of the retail shops. hats off to daiwa for getting parts for a 30 year old reel. it does make you think what shimano penn okuma etc would do in the same position
