Is this rod to heavy for a tld25 80lb braid. I wanted a short stiff rod to get the fish outa the reef when bottom fishing and a rig for spaniards and tuna with the old shark thats been eating me redys.
I live in gove so my brother is buying it for me in townsville so what does everyone think???

You have a canon with a pea shooter sitting on top. Its way to much of a rod for what you want.:o

G'day Matt,
I've got a couple of 15-24kg live fibre's with tld 25's loaded with 80lb braid, they are 7'ers...a bit long for what you are doing, but nice combo. I'd think similarly to stu...24-37kg is way too much rod for a tld 25 without doctoring up the drag (John Pope at Scarborough makes chrome leather drag washer replacements for the tlds), have you considered a 15-24 kg 6'6" live fibre?
I saw a penn sport stand up in 15-24kg 6'6" at the boat show and at around $100 I thought it could be a good alternative for the sort of thing you're talking about and could be a better match for the 25. They are as tough as nails, good quality fitting, fast taper, so you still get some feel with heaps of grunt in the mid section which is where you want it for stopping beasties in shallow water. Could be worth checking out
cheers

I have one of these Live Fibre 15-24kg 7' rods that has been cutdown to 6'. My local tackle store is working with Wilson on a new rod that has had some length taken from both the tip and the butt to make it a 6' rod, but still keep the good characteristics of the 7' version.
I am using this with a Tekota 700 loaded with 80lb Jigman braid and I love it.
Unfortunately you cannot get these yet, but it is a top rod.
I too think the 24-37kg version would not be suited to a TLD25.
