Hi,
The drag on my reel was a bit rough so I pulled the reel appart for a good lube & grease. According to the 'bloody decks' web site I should have greased the washer, which I did - except now the drag slips under pressure.
I am thinking of soaking the washer in meths to evaporate the grease & lube I applied, which is what one tackle shop guy has suggested - however if I do that, do I risk burning the drag mechanism out?
Does anyone on here use a TLD15 and maintain their own? If so what do you suggest?

Owen started a thread here a while ago and showed how to service a TLD 25.
They're mostly the same so do a search and find that thread.
It was a ripper :)
I wished it was sticky it was that good.

Does anyone know where I can take a reel for a service, the 6500 baitrunner needs a little attention, I dont think I would be confident enough to do it myself, I know I would end up with spare parts and I also have a little problem with a thing called patience.
Cheers
Paul

take it down to k-mart, they'll do it;D ;D ....just KIDDING. your local tackle shop should do it.......they would definitly be able to point you in the right direction anyway. Sean:)
phoenix.....ahhhh......don't know
Phoenix,
The tutorial on bloody decks uses new carbon fibre drag washers.
If you re-used your original shimano washers I'd stick with whatever lube (if any) they recommend.
cheers,

The TLD's run a dry drag as standard, to get yours back you'll need to scrub/soak your washer in Shellite, you will also need to clean the bed (spool side) with a rag that has Shellite on it so no oil or grease soaks into it again, you will also need to clean the metal drag plate so there is no residue left on it (nice dry mirror finish).Put it all back together and it will be as smooth as a babies bum again.
