I read about soft plastics nuk chicken and all that so i had to have a go, i went to a store he said try these so i grabed a packet and went over to curtian and dropped one over the side and went "now what did he say, thats right jerk it 3 times" so after the 2nd jerk it took off, my 6500 was smokin lots of head banging and all that then nuthin i wound my line in and the damm knot had broken on my 10 year old line.Anyway he got away but i still got another small snapa of 37 so i'm now a converted man.I bought a 400 stradic and a nyce widdle rod 'DONT TELL THE MISSUS:-X 'it's just stuffed up there among the other rod's, i'm hoping she will walk past as she does the washing and doesn't count them.Ok sorry back to the swivel,so i had some new 15lb line at home and put it on but when i tried it out fishing it got a bit of a twist in the line ,do i have to put a swivel in there somewere or what.cheers...jim:D

I don't use swivels on any of my luring outfits, UNLESS a metal spoon = lots of line twist! Only real use of swivel is to prevent line twist, better to knot your leader to a double if using a leader. Was the line twist due to winding against the drag when you were spooling up possibly?

mate, if i were you, go out and buy some braid, i know its expensive, but it won't twist and is perfect for lure fishing. then, no, you wont need a swivel. Sean

Yeah im gunna buy some braid cause i got 2 spools with the reel but i tried the 15lb mono on one of the spools and it got a bit of a twist i put the line in a bucket of water on just wound it on.what is the most reasonable braid for soft plastics on a 4000 stradic,i want to try something other than fire line. cheers..jim

Go the braid Jimbo, Twist will be a once in a really long time event and a simple fix for another really long time.

If you persist with mono however a matched swivel to the breaking strain of your line will work fine and I would probaly opt for a snap swivel in that case. 15lb line i would use a #12 swivel most likely and it would be a new one at that. Swivels that have been used before can and do develop corrosion inside the barrel of them and often look fine from outside.

I like Daiwa TD Sensor, Why, because its quite thin and very strong and most importantly its orange. Though it is expensive at around $60 for a spool of 150yds i think.
