G'day G'day. A number of us are doing the annual trip to Awoonga starting Sunday which is all well and good if the barra come on the bite but I am looking at some other options to hit in the salt. I have been meaning to do the Gladstone area for 3 years but as yet have not managed it, until next week;). Basically I am just after some info on what is biting at the moment. Lure fishing will be the main method and it will be out of bass/barra type 4-4.5mt hornets/ edgecrackers so no open water if it gets choppy. Curtis Island and the creeks in it look real nice on Google earth so want to have a poke up there if weather and fish allow.
Any info would be much appreciated so that we can focus on what he have a chance at. Thanks.

if the weather is good this weekend which it is supposed to be i would be trying to get out to the channel markers for some spanish and some bonito. Even try nautilis (the wreck) near turkey beach for some food GTs, Cobia and maybe a cob or something. If the weather is crap try the narrows or even up the harbour near rat island mite be alright as well.
Keep us posted on how u go.....
cheers alex

Thanks. Am heading off in a few hours fropm Casino(gotta do the soccer dad thing with the kids before the fishing dad thing) and will be in H-Bay tonight so will log back in then. I am keen on mackeral or tuna if they are still about and a Queenie is on my uncaught list still so would love to cross that off. A feed of chilly mudcrab would be good!

1.you have the boyne river mouth is good for large bream at night lost of rocky out crops or under the boyne/tannum sands brigde is good for queen fish and travaly .
2. a place called toloa bends half way between gladstone and the boyne island .
the boat ramp is next to the main road easy to se .you get grunter and travaly towords the mouth were a the covaer belt bridge is under the pilones .and ther are a few mud crabs around so drop some pots in .
3.in the northern entrance at a place called rat island in between facing island and curtis island .you get must of your reef peices in there .
4. and colipe river is good for jacks , salmone and somtimes barra if your lucky but is a very rocky area and would be wise to do a recone at low tide.
