Hows it going guys
I headed out from scarby marina at about 5 this morning with two work mates . We headed off to spot X with the promise of fish ,once there we set our lines for the drift and bang first drop my new tierra starts screaming for mercy as a freight train took off for China busting my leader . All signs pointed to another productive day.

After hours of drifting around for nothing but undersized pickers morale was lacking and there was thoughts of heading home when BANG ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ the tierra starts sceaming as the berkley dropshot bends in half I managed to set the hook and the fight was on for near 15 mins i fought this horse as the bets started flying on how big it would be no one expected a 70cm sanp to come on board . Once the fish was boated and the high fives had ceased we reset the lines and one of my mates boated a 40cm model as for the other mate he didnt manage to get any keepers and after I found out he had a banana on board I told him thats why.

My monster was caught on a 2-4kg berkley dropshot with a 2500 daiwa tierra using 8lb PE braid with 10lb fluro carbon leader and 1/2 oz jigheads 3/0 hook and 5" lime tiger jerkshads.

Well done Russ. The perserverence paid off. Thats a big fish to catch on that rig.

I was out there yesterday and only managed a 40cm cod which I released. I got broken off my some big stuff about 5 times during the day ( was being hit very hard and very fast).

I'm thinking Monday might be worth another shot. (I've got another week before I start the new job).

Cheers

Very nice snapper there Russ, I think we drifted by your rig this morning drifting the ? metre drop over at Moreton.
We were going to do several more drifts but got a call from a mate to try another spot as he had just boated a good fish.
Probably will try that spot again sometime soon.
Its great to see quality fish on the chew again after the last few months of quiet times.
What plastic did the damage if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome fish. No wonder the high 5's were happening once it came in. Good effort on such light gear too. Bettered my catch today by 2cms. I wanted to do the high 5 thing but it is a bit hard when you are the only occupant on board. Lol
Well done. A superb catch.

Solid fish mate, you only caught that because i wasn't on board :D. I bet the missus is a lot more happy about spendin so much time on the water with so much fresh fillets coming home.

Good work buddy.

cheers chris
