Now the strangest thing has been brought to my attention. Apparently someone has seen someone putting WD- 40 on there lures, with great rewards.

Or are they just pissing in my pocket.

Minno, used to spray all my pre-made gangs for off shore with WD40, stored in a plastic container, never seemed to make a difference in catch rate, if any thing I caught more fish than the crew, they called it arse.
The only down side is when you mouth the line to put a bit of lube into the knots, the wd40 can be rather un-pleasant, especially 50k's out after a large nite.

I've heard that it has fish oil in it so that could be your answer..

Bloody amazing ;D considering WD40 is mostly kero (+ dewatering agent) I believe....(never heard of the fish oil????) Just think about all the no nos...always wash your hands so fish cant smell all these foreign things like suncream, WD40 etc etc.

there was an email doing the rounds about all the origins and uses for wd-40 and one of them was as a scent for fishing lures or bait. it is fish oil based but it may have some petroleum based products in it too.......not unlike the very plastics your spraying it on!! Go back further and i guess the oil comes from decomposed organic matter so you can draw a fairly long bow in saying its a "natural" scent ;)

actually, the can says it contains distillates???? but of what? distilled fish oil to remove solids and make it more capable of penetrating surfaces etc......that's what it does, so perhaps its not so strange at all.

A freind of mine sprays his crabpot baits with wd40 with great success. I thought he was having a go at me at first but it apparently works.

Well on lures it has multiple benefits, it stops hardbodies from rusting after cotinual use in the salt and also, with the fish oil, an attractant
