just down in tassie, was wondering what a good troll speed for salmon and barracouta is?

Depends on what you are towing. When we fished for them in NSW we ran a mixture of Rapala CD14's and Pakula Uzi lures at around 6K.

I guess you mean "normal" Australian Salmon?? if so they are usually not all that fussy, but if you see some bait fish in the area that they may be feeding on, try any lure that looks as close as possible to them.

They're one of those fisht hat will either hit absolutely everything you throw at them or nothing at all.
Along with the rapalas and other hardbodies, try trolling a raider of sniper, along with a small skirted lure. Have a real mixup of lures and then when one particular lures gets alot of hits then switch to that

Save your petrol...buy some fresh white-bait, chop some up and mix with chook pellets for burley...soon you'll have salmon at the back of your boat...then thread a whole white-bait onto a 1/0 baitholder hook and with small or no sinker let it drift back...then hang on!;D
