Somerset dam, fishing from bank with jackalls. Any chance?

Hey guys,

Im heading up to somerset this weekend for a mates birthday. I will be able to fish from the bank up there with jackalls, is there much chance of getting a bass from the edges? I cant take my canoe up there as i have no way of getting it up there :-[ so where would be the best place to try land based? Im camping at kirkleigh so it needs to be walking distance from there, however im willing to get up early and walk a few k's if there are some good spots!

With the recent rise in water level, Spinnerbaits are probably more worth a try, and cheaper if you lose them.

well i can't exactly remember if i camped at kirkleigh but last summer i went down chasing some bass on a g-vibe and lost all my jackalls and got one approx 35cm bass from about 100right of the boat ramp(the right when u are looking onto the water) and if you go up another 300m there is an alright hole that has a few bass in it good luck

mate me and dad ages ago used to use bait right next to the baot ramp and we caughgt masive bass and yellas but things of cahnged hahah nno more bait for me try slow rolling jackalls al the way around you would have to get a yalla atleast

Is there much stuff to get hung up on in the water? As in like snags and logs that i might snag my jackalls on??

nah near the boat ramp there wasn't many when i went earlie this year and it looked to us like there were some decent snags to go for bass in the middle of the dam we got out there in the yaks and the water was ankle deep

Hey Dave, can you take a couple of photo's of the dam and water levels around the boat ramps and post them with what i am sure will be a good fishing report, as i am going up there myself in 3 weeks.
