Went out to the port this morning to try and improve my pb on squire(I've only caught 1 legal one before of 37cm) and to convert a mate over to the dark side(plastics). I managed to achieve both.
Things were quiet early so after an hour or so at the whalves, we went out to the rock wall and got a nice feed of winter whiting with all caught on Gulp sandworms in natural. No more squid for this little black duck.
Back to the whalves in the hope of finding a squire or two. But all we could scare up were 2 flathead of 53 & 55 cm(Chief - magic mark 67 did the trick). We caught one each and both were pb's. But still no squire.
Having never been to Mud and the bay was like a sheet of glass so we decided to have a look at it. We didn't do any good at Mud but it was an enjoyable trip.
Maybe one last flick along the whalves on the way back to Whyte Island. So we tried near the new construction and ended up throwing back 5 undersized squire. Things are looking up. We worked our way back towards the ramp all the way to the grain terminal when a 45 cm sqiure finally hit my gulp.
What a top day out -
a feed of whiting for the wife
my pb's on flathead and squire
mates pb on flathead
and another convert to the dark side.
