A few people from work were heading down to crystalvale 4WD park today so i tagged along

the park is about 15 minutes out of murwillumbah in norhen NSW and as it is the first 4WD park i have been to i cannot compare it to the others

$20 per car for driving around but they do have camping there for an extra $7 per day
we did go to the camp ground when we first got there and it was small and prob not good for large groups

there were 11 cars in our convoy from the gold coast from myself in the navara, a new patrol ,a couple of jakeroos ,some hiluxs, prados, cruiers and a moderfied suzuki

some of the hills were very steep and way out of my leauge but a few of the others with diff lockers had a go and did ok you get a map when you get there and all tracks are numbered and rated, some of the rainforrest tracks were fantastic

its a bit dry down that way but still a few mudholes to try out, the guy in the suzi spent more time winching himself then he did driving but my young blokes thought it was great

all in all was a good day and wasnt to far to get home at the end of the day and wash the mud off

cheers

That's better, I was waiting for the pics Scott.

Looks like that area is only suited to GOATS !!!!!

Wash the car, how ?

Might see you soon.

Crystalvale is a great little 4WD park, I've been there twice now. First time was a boys weekend and we managed to get a Body&suspension lifted, twin locked jeep with Mongrel tyres completely bogged twice. I snatched him out first time (I had the 2003 v6 Dual Cab Hilux then) and he needed to be winched the second.

Have since been back there with the same guy (He now has a lifted and locked 2006 GU Patrol and I have the 06 'Lux) and we took our daughters (both the same age). They absolutely loved it, camping and 4WDing, even on the tracks where we needed the lockers and all you could see was sky!!!

It is not as big as some of the other parks but is definatley my pick for a day or a quick weekend trip. The camping ground with covered area and showers would fit half a dozen or so 4WD's with their assorted gear, but for larger groups you can park in the paddocks to the right of the entry. There is a long drop toilet there but no showers, so we bring our own and the clam shell bath for the kids.

Anyway Phill, you'd only need 2WD and an outboard motor down there!!!
