'The Sniper' and I headed out in perfect conditions this morning for a serious SP session off the sunshine coast. Drifting in 8-9 metres of water with plenty of baitfish on the sounder - we had unbelievable fishing with good squire smashing our SP's on the drop every cast for the first 30 minutes of light. After that the squire slowed off slightly but were still consistent for 2 more hours before it was all over. Both bagged out and all fish ranged from 43cm -60cm. Plastics were in the *%# inch varieties on *$#@ jigheads. I have recently chucked away my braid lines to just fish light mono (not fluro) all the way to the hook -consequently achieving very satisfying results! Braid lines are over-rated in my book. Great morning - superb weather - lots of action and good company - what more could you ask for?

Hey lets not 'freak out' just yet - fishing is all about moving forward to gain better results - this often takes experimentation with new lines & gear - however to cover all your bases, going backwards also pays dividens - just to prove what really works best. Whether it be using mono again in the middle of 'the braid revolution' or taking other crazy risks - I don't care as long as we are learning and sharpening our 'knowledge of what makes 'them' tick!. Everyone to their own I guess and forums like this help I'm sure in the quest for the 'perfect trip'. cheers

Cant argue with you there. The choice to go back to mono obviously didn't hinder you much. Nice bag out.
I think your right, in certain situations mono is more effective, especially when the water is as clear as it is at the moment. I hate running a leader any longer than the length of my rod as the knot often catches the unspooling line when casting but when its gin clear (like it has been lately) you need as long a leader as possible??
Good on ya for going back to the basics and bagging out with them.
