Hi Guys

I was browsing thought some of the old threads and came upon the article about okuma reeds.

My mate bought two of them

As I repair and service all reels the okuma reel needs to be serviced after evry beach trip and at 3 months if used in a boat. I redcommend that you do not wash these reels but give them a good wiping over with damp soapy towel them wipe them with just a damp towel to get any soap and salt scum off it.

The key to keeping these reels in good working order is to get them services regularly

G-day,,, I never seen a coronado but I have purchased a okuma laser, theyre a bottom end spinning reel, mine is an 80 series and does weekly trip's to the beach, it cost $48 from big W and to date hasnt faulted, its pulled in a couple of rays that pulled like bloody trains and a good chopper in the broadwater, there's been a couple of 40 cm flatties and good breamies too, after each trip it gets a good dunking in the water tank and left in the sun to dry,,,, had no drama's as of yet...(touch wood) its about 6 mths old now.

ive had an av80 for the last 3 years and it gets used on a regular bases. on the beach ive caught everything from whiting to decent jewfish and it has never let me down .i also hose this reel down after every use .boat work for kingfish snapper and all the usual palagics ,its a great reel .

lie loud enough and long enough and eventually the masses will believe you
