Headed out to Mud Island with JOM this past Saturday for a plastics session. We had a few plastic virgins on board so we were both hoping that Mud would turn it on. Unfortunately that was not the case. I did manage one keeper, a 55cm snapper/squire (when does a squire become a snapper?). It was caught on a 3 Atomic minnow on a 7 Penn Pinpoint 3-6kg and Daiwa Tierra 2500 loaded with 8lb braid with 12lb leader.
JOM did manage about 6 squire which were all undersized and released.

Zilli,
Thanks for plug and the reminder. Good catch mate, thought we would be heading home completely empty handed. They did turn on at the end.
I think the plastics virgins thought we were having them on about how good Sp's are until you landed that fish. hahaha.
Damo.

Gidday Zilli,
I know JOM is trying to reclaim the title and moment I'm holding it...::)
By way nice squire being just before a bay snapper...

Good to see you got onto a few at least- better than my last trip out that way when i didn't even get a bump.
So when are you fellas hitting the 9 mile?

Well done on the snap Zilli but that sober look on your face tells another story. Better luck next time. IMO a squire becomes a snapper at distinctive showing of bump, yours would pass mate.

Gee MEGA, you look beside yourself there :P ... I'd have been doing handstands - ok maybe not - just backflips...;) Don't know, there's something about catching Snaps on SP's that just gets my blood flowing!
Nice fish and well done on a top effort!

Thanks for the comments Guys...
Toddo...we will have to hit 9 mile in your boat when you get back!
T1...It gets my blood flowing too...I just dont like posing for photos though.
Silent...I still have a long way to go before topping your 70+ snap!
christophejouvencon...It will happen just keep trying (you might have to swap over the 20lb mono though!)
