I'm on the lookout for new outfit for catching mainly Snapper, Mac tuna & the rest of the big fish in the sea. Firstly i'm going to get a rod in either a Daiwa Coastal Tournament or Team Daiwa Tierra model which will be used for SP's, Hardbody lures & some bait soaking.
My problem is should i go the..

10-17lb (4.55kg-7.73kg) or
12-20lb (5.45kg-9.09kg) in the Tierra..

or

get the 10-20lb (4.55kg-9.09kg) in the Coastal??

I like the feel of the lighter 10-17lb cause i'm used using light rods for my breamin' needs but catching the bigger fish i don't want to be undergunned & be bring home my new 1piece rod in 2 bits..

I'll be running a 4000 reel in either Shimano or Daiwa in the price range of $200-300.. I will be mainly using it offshore around tweed & currumbin with the odd day in the bay..

Any help will be great guys & before you say do a search I have read most of the backdated posts but it has still left me unsure.. :-/

here's the links to both rods..

I Was Having A Look At Those Daiwa Team Tierra Last Night. Not A Bad Lookin Rod They Should Be Good For Throwing Soft Plastics At Tuna As Long As Your Reel Has The Line Capacity

ill be doing the same brain scratching as you are soon aswell, by the specs youve got, if it was up to me id go the coastal, still light but sounds like it has a good but section, which will hopefully pull those longtails aboard! but in all seriousness the coastal looks better, just like jm82 said make sure your reel can hold a bit of line
