Line capacity spinning reel

I am looking at getting an "spinning reel" for fishing off rocks/rock walls etc or such as the Seaway, (not in dangerous spots), or the surf. I have Alveys for beach etc but thought an spinning reel would be easier to handle on the rocks at nights etc. Wondering what line capacity should I look for. I imagine the biggest type of fish I would target would be Jew, otherwise bream, tailor etc.

Also wondering, how easy it is to purchase other spools that I could have on the spinner, for easy change of line?

Hi,

line capacity of about 250 meters of line size 0.40 should be enough. As for spare spools, many reels are already sold with spare spool included. Check for Okuma, Shimano or Tica.
If you consider long distance casting then consider long casting reels which are slightly different from regular spinning reels.

Diawa GS9 is a very tough reel, holds 300 mtrs of 30 lb mono,
only draw-back is they are about $250.

Maybe a Shimano Stradic 4000? Spare Spool, good reel for casting, highish retreive speed. You can pick them up under $200. Would have thought it would have enough line capacity for what you're after if spooled with braid.

none tougher than the spinfisher in a range of sizes these days from 4200 up to 9500 dunno bout the spare spool though but they are a top roc/landbased reel under $200 lately

I would probably opt for a Shimano Baitrunner 6500 and have the option of a gutsy reel with baitrunning facility if you want it someday.

Banax iso 3000 or 5000. Probably the 5000 as it holds 240m of 20lb.
Have a 3000 that I use for spinning and its very smooth with good line distribution across the spool and casts a good distance.
Cost? about $110 delivered by air freight to your door.

Or try the sx 5000 for well under a hundred bucks that performs well and (see previous reports) will last a long time without corroding.
