Can you that have utilized this method pass on some info to me in relation to this.

I will be attempting to put, Trout, Reds, Sweeties etc, into the esky from offshore 1770 later this year and would like to have a shot at this method.

Head weights, brands and plastic things are info I seek.

Fishing 50mtrs of water and shallower.

Phil - You might be better off running a Paternoster rig down, and hooking plastics on the hooks rather than bait. That way they will move in the current, and if you raise/lower your rod tip, you will give it action as well.

Just thinking around the reef you might snag up less.

Otherwise, go for as light as you can get away with. The fish should come away from the structure to eat it... (Hopefully). Cast up current so it sinks as it gets closer to you. Keep as much slack out of it as you can so it sinks as naturally as possible. A couple of rod tip flicks should get it moving. When it hits bottom, Just lift and wind it up about 3m or so, then let it sink again with flicks. Keep going til its under the boat, then wind in and go again.

Phil, Start With Some 3/8 Ounce - 1 Ounce Jig Heads In 50m Or Plus. If You Are Fishing Shallower Water U Can Go Down To 1/2 Ounce Depending On Current. Plastics I Would Use Are 7 Inch Berkley Gulps In Nuclear Chicken And White Gulps And Also 7 Inch Atomic Jerk Shads Also Those In The 5inch Range In White Or Motor Oil Colours , Even Try Some Of The 5inch Gambler Super Studs In Watermelon Or Bleeding Crystal Shad Hope This Helps With 1770 Trip

Good Luck

another little add on which i saw on fishing WA was they were useing a rubber squid that you pass the line thru before putting your jig head on and it sits on the head of your plastic, it looks like its eating the fish aswell and when jigged up looks like it darts of but when sinking its tentacles spread out and flap up and causes the rig to drop slower. best imitation i have ever seen from an artificial. has anyone seen the episode im talking about or know the product?
