hello fello ausfishers went out last friday for a run with bill corten doing a bar crossing course.i highly recommened this course i was out with 2 outher men we had the best time.this man is a guru he spent a lot of time running us down of what to expect and show us what to do in all tipes of conditions, let me tell you his wifes cakes arent bad either.i have never met a man who is so passionate about what he does and he is not happy until he is confident that you are capable of crossing the bars weather its low tide or hi .and for him it takes as long as it takes time is not a worry.bill is full of nowlege and very happy to answer any questions you may have no matter how silly they are. thanks bill dale

Seahorse,
I did the course with Bill, a couple of months ago, I can highly recommend it, the day is spent more about learning boat handling and what to look for and be aware of while crossing the bar. Bill checks that you have the right day with incoming and outgoing tides. You spend half the day driving the boat in and out of the bar, the other half of the day is spent in what Bill calls the play ground which is basically the surf on the northern side of the northern channel.
We left at 6.00 and returned at 4.00 but as rubba said, if Bill isnt confident with your skill level he will put in the extra time with you to help you get the best from the course so no fixed time to end the day. The cost was $400.00 p/h for the day, 3 of us went and wayne camp the journo from qld fishing monthly (got me picture in the mag as well).
Great course worth every cent.
good on ya Bill.. ;)

YEY Rubba Saw you out there on friday popped in for a chat Its a great course better than any extreme rides at dreamworld and money well spent. Since doing the course the bar crossing is not a major obsticle but one thing I must say is how little you know about boating untill you do this course. Mind you I am still very cautious over that bar - zoomed through it today no problems but on the inside boy was it rough. the shingles I believe it is called am trying to work out a few different courses to minimise it.
Keep in touch with Bill things change on that bar and he is doing it all the time and your marks will change.
Also I found the best thing you can do is get out there on a good day and revisit all the things you did with Bill but do it in your own boat he has that Bruse craft setup pretty well and its a great boat very forgiving I know I had it airborne a few times. But your boat will be different and at the end of the day things are quite different when you dont have Bill standing beside you telling you what to do. Pick a good day and do It all again Pm me if you like I will bring my boat out and run through it with you the more times you go through that bar the better off you are . I am always up for the experience with a bit of fishing as well.
Your confidence must be at a high at the moment
PPS the offshore fishing course is pretty good as well.
