200 Merc Optimax, Fuel figures

Have done 31 hours with the new motor, mixture of offshore ( rough & good conditions ), bay work, limited trolling, below are the figures thus far for those with a interest.

31 Hrs
615 k/m travelled
Approx 400 litres petrol ( smart craft says 364 litres, but I know it's about 10% out )

This equates to
1.54 Km/Litre
12.97 L/Hr

The boat is a 19C Haines, most of the time loaded up with full tanks (230 Litres )
40 litres water, 2-3 People on board ( 140 - 240Kg )

Remember your post when you put the new engine on. looked great. At what rev's do you run the engine at whilst cruising and how many knots do your normally cruise at.

In the Bay I sit around 4000rpm which is about 29knts, outside between 3500rpm ( 25knts ) to 3900rpm, depending on weather and how much of a hurry I'm in.

WOT is 5750rpm, 43 knts

G'day Bill, I remember your other posts. What were the figures for your old donk? Were your cruising at about the same revs and speed as you used to with the old motor or has the new one changed that slightly? I'm pretty interested in "real life" comparisons between the newer technology motors and the older carby 2 strokes.

Outside conditions I tend to sit on about the same speed ( 25knts, 40 km/h ) at about 3500 as mentioned, previous 175 I would be sitting on 3800 - 3900 to achieve the same speed.

Inside i must admit I put the hammer down more often because I can;D
With the older motor once you got up around the 4200 mark you couldn't keep the juice up to it fast enough, this is not the case with the DFI.

Overall I'm using 40-50% less petrol than the 175 Carby, not to be sneezed at.

Am still waiting for a opportunity to take it on a long run outside ( Banks, Hards etc ), this will give it the real test.

Previous motor 1km/L, sure added up quick on those trips
