Sorry i didnt say this in the start of the thread i just found out how to put photos on ausfish please tell me what you think of it i caught it in the upper brisbane river on a live prawn about 7-8cm

Bloody nice fish mate! 8-) I bet it fought well.

All these reports of salmon in the brissie river are very tempting ;D

I caught this speciman near the jindalee bridge and caught two other 50cm specimans two weeks later there good fun thats for sure. The one in the above pic jumped out of the water...

Interesting to see that they make their way up that far. All of the threadfin reports I've seen are from the lower reaches. What gear are you using?

i was using quite heavy gear unfortunately but it still fought a good ten minutes i had twenty pound jarvis walker braid(which i will never use again) with a shimano 4000 sienna matched with a shimano 6-8kg rod (cant remember what it was) but i am keen to go there with the light gear very soon.....

yeah i was landbased, i didnt eat this one and it was returned safely......

Well done Champ.Nice fish.I've caught the odd one myself.Definitely give the light gear a go,you'll love it,just don't rush it!Can I ask when you caught this?
