not unless you try to put a lot of pressure on it when it is running out on a big fish, but just to "lay" the line on it will be OK (you will soon find out anyway)

I used to be really fastidious about laying the line back evenly on the reel - but now I just wind it back with an occasional bit of assistance and whilst the line does tend to mound a bit at the centre, it doesn't give me any grief and I get no cuts.
Actually the only cuts I get are when I'm throwing slugs with a spinning reel - sometimes the line cuts into the first crease of my index finger which is restraining the line just before the cast.

Why dont you buy one of those leather thumbs covers.....they work great...

i fish 80lb fins on tld20 and doesn't cause too much pain, i find casting big poppers on spin reel with 80lb does more damage though
