Woke up friday morning feeling like $%#^&, some dam flu. Took the day off and slept most of the day but the young bloke came up with lets go for a fish up bulimba creek about 2.30. Should be out of the wind and gee a little bit of sun on the face may be ok. Holey doley, there was white caps in the creek. A man must be crazy but the young bloke has done nothing but work while on school break so i soldiered on. Water was still very dirty and still a bit of fresh tinge on the low water . Plastics were thrown but the bait in that type of water seemed to get the results. Quite a few small bream with the bite starting to get better with a few keepers as the light faded, but thats when it started to get dam cold so I had to pull the pin or end up with pneumonia, but the young bloke is always happy when he's got that rod bent and a few fish. He was greatful though,Gee I sat in the ute while he launched the boat and he told me to stay in the ute while he retrieved the boat and when we got home he said you go and have a warm shower and i'll clean up the boat and gear:o Good kid,Dam straight .Fish released to fight another day;D The fish were in better condition than the old man thats for sure

Chief - I have not been fishing for over two months now. :-[ All because of 'dog ate my homework" reasons since leaving work but I cannot wait until the weather clears up for my first bash at night fishing for the year. I was really cranky that when last we had a nice high tide coinciding with sunset and great weather, I had a heavy cold - too heavy to take the risk. :'( I must be getting soft in my old age. ;D
I keep reading of your adventures with delight, though. ;)

Chief,
I think it was a good move to have a fish, and the young bloke probably respected the effort you went to, despite being under the weather. I tend to agree with you - getting out in the sun and having a fish was probably better that staying in Bed, at least that's an excuse I use often::) Once I took a thermos of hot soup with me and parked under the Sundale bridge and had a fish. Fixed the flu!! Wife still can't beleive I did that, but it worked!!

You're lucky to have a keen fisher son Chief.
I've got 2 girls and the youngest likes coming out now and then and I love it when she does.:)
Good luck to you and your boy mate!;)
