Hows it going guys
Just got back from a mammoth 12 hr session in the estuaries surrounding the marina we survived the cold the rain and the lack of fish.
We put in at 10 last night with the purpose of gathering livies this was to be my first time throwing a cast net around and thanks to the instructional videos by steve and nugget i caught the only two and managed to master the technique fairly quickly, after trying various locations and destroying one of the nets we settled down with some squid after landing a few brim ( 33/29/31cm all thrown back) everything went quite and the rain set in we continued to fish unsuccessfully until 3.00am when we my mate placed his rod down to light a durry ,when he was hit by a freight train that took the rod and all which was never to be seen again .At about 4.30am we tied the boat up and retired to the heater of the car the escape the freezing winds
After an hour of gonk it was back on the water for the second half of the trip.Off we went with the soft plastics to try our luck around the trawlers for a few hours
I decided to go with the 3" minnow grub in pumpkinseed with no action we were about to pack it in when i was it by an unstoppable i dont know what it was but it ran hard and fast until it snapped me off ,with the heart going i tied my 20lb mono leader onto the 12lb mono and rigged up with the same weapon ,it had no sooner hit the water when the reel started to scream and this time i was snapped off on the pylon by this time i was sick off losing tackle for nothing in return so i spent the next few hours pulling the piss out of my mate as he tried to get the hang of his new electric
Overall a fairly quite session with some laughs and excitement and a few fish,
I am well and truly hooked on soft plastics but i think i will continue to use bait as well just to mix things up a little
