I would've thought 480kg for bare hull on a boat this size to be quite significant? http://www.fisherboats.com.au/data/480ex.html Compared to a 475 RipTide at 435kg http://www.riptidealloyboats.com.au/barra_boat_series/default.asp , or a Haines 520 Prowler at 500kg http://www.haineshunter.com.au/520prowler.html
A few simple web searches will get you some good info. IMO the 17 degree deadrise in a boat like this will be great. Certainly far better than what you'd get in a pressed tinnie.
Like Woopi says, they are a great boat, and yes, I own one too.
Regards,
Dave.

hey nedy i have a mate with a fisher 480 cetre console with a 90 horse zuke on it buet boat and handles rouph water really good.
cheers tassie JR
Neddy,
You're a new member, and asking anything on this site about fishers on this site will undoubtedly bring shouts of 'buy it'.
Make sure you drive one first, and drive other boats as well.
I and other members have first hand experience with the 480 side console - at 1770 for a week.:-X
All I'll say is test drive the actual boat you are looking at, and if you like it that is good.

What he said. I do not rate side consoles at all. Unless you have a passenger who is willing to be movable ballast they cannot handle all the weight ie. Console and passenger on one side. I emphasise this is not a Fisher problem, but a side console problem. The layout for fishing is great but useless in my view for travelling. I am aware you could fit tabs but would question using tabs to overcome an inherent weight distribution problem as opposed to using them to better trim the boat to the prevailing wind or sea state.

Nedy,
Can't comment on the 480 but my old man has just picked up his 6m Fisher and the quality of the build etc is first class.
Like others have said, no issues with getting people to agree they are a great boat.

I had the pleasure of seeing one close up. The bopat was the subject of another thread on here.
Spin Doctor................man what a boat.
And I was up Caboolture way later in the morning so i called in and introduced myself. Met Col, MAx, they gave me a tour of the shop. 3 new ones underway. I see why they are such a good boat.
the detail and work put into them. And something that sadly lacks in alot of things today.....pride in work.
Top class boat, hopefully will order one next June

Why Not

Have a look at G.S Marine Extreme boats. I understand they are hitting the east coast now. I've got a 5.5m Extreme with a 140 hp Suzi on the back and it is great. G.S make a side console which a lot of people up here in Darwin rate.
Why Not
The issue seems to be,that any side consul, without compensating trim control,is a harder boat to level up.
Apart from that ,Fisher quality is excellent. No doubt about that
