Are you land based or do you have a boat?

You get em around ST Helena Island with the Eastern side the best. I get em landbased but have noticed lately that they aren't around in numbers at the moment. Got heaps in the past two weeks but they've moved off for now.
Dolphins have been around tho, herding bait so it's to be expected. My freezer is all empty too. :(
If you are into bay squid the Gunn Jetty at Manly has em and another Landbased option is wello point Jetty. Good luck champ.

head out through the leads at wello for half a km , then drift back towards green, you might do ok :)

I caught one on a prawn imitation plastic up at the pin last sunday. I normally hunt them land based from wello point and manly but apparently they are pretty thick along the weed beds up along the inside of straddie. I've caught a few drifting south of harry atkinsons. All the bay island shallows reportedly have good squid populations. I've never specifically targeted them out in the bay but get out there and give it a go.

I have found the edge of the banks from Amity to Myora to be the most consitant area in the Bay. Low tide is best and just work the dropoff. Inside Moreton can produce as well as any weed beds or ropcky outcrops around the Bay islands

The weed beds on the flats along the inside of Moreton are usually productive all year round. I prefer the northern end between Cowan and Comboyuro Point. You'll also pick up a few cuttlefish there as well, which I prefer to the squid for eating, although the little buggers can sure pump out the ink

Lethal,
If you put a sinker on the bottom and two or three neutral bouyant prawn style squid jigs speaced about 60cm apart starting from the sinker and set that on the bootm as you drift about winter whiting fishing you will catch all you want. Squid follow schools of winter whiting around the bay in winter.
Usually I get one squid to about 4 or 5 winter whiting whenever I go.

Bramble bay deception bay compass adjustment bouy cockle banks all of thse places produce good hauls of both.

If you want land based squidding try any of the rocky foreshores you can find that have clean water Redcliffe is a good starting location.

Jack.
