I am currently looking at installing a turbo timer on my 03 series 3 patrol i was wondering if anyone has done this and is it worth it.

Yes and yes

Fitted the timer (1, 3, 5 minutes) along with an oil cooler when the turbo and new exhaust was fitted.

Motor never goes off without the minimum 1 min cool down and more if its been towing and 5min if long trip or hot tow

I was told by the diesel injector specialist who sourced the turbo etc to definitely use both the cooler and the timer and it seems he knew what he was talking about. Touch wood, but after many years there have been no problems with the motor or turbo.

i agree with chimo
letting your motor idle down protects turbo bearings you can also buy turbo savers
check with insurance company before fitting one they dont like running vehciles with no driver
