just wonder what lures should be the most effective for 50-60cm spotted and schoolie makerel feeding on hardy heads.
good to know what brand and size, etc::)

try 40grm raiders or lasers just about any baitfish profile slugs will do the trick just match the size of the hardyheads.

I agree 40g raiders wound flat out usually do the job, but keep some 20g ones handy too incase they are a bit fussy.

You need to try and match the size of the slug to the size of the bait fish that the mackerel are feeding on So i have a Varity of sizes and colours and just find out what's working and keep using that. If the baitfish are too small the lighter slugs can be hard to cast so try using a 35 - 40g slug and colouring some of it in so it looks smaller. After that you just need to be persistent.

I would be trying some of the smaller profile ones like Sea Rocks around 20gm if the larger profile Raiders or normal slugs don't get a hit

I use small spoons (depending on size of mackeral) or little slugs for the average size mackie. Even just gang a pilly up and drop hime down but mostly have more success with lures..
