What is the fishing like around Hells Gate?

I might visit Tasmania one day, it depends if my daughter moves from England or not :-/.

Are there any surf beaches on Tasmania?

If so, what might I expect to catch (if I am lucky):D

Good day mate,
Only noticed your post today.Any of the east coast beaches will be good for Aust. salmon,gummy shark,sea mullet, flatties and a few others.Some good beach fishing is also to be had in the North East for the above species.We tend to have less var. of species here in Tas due to the colder clim but summer can be quite productive.

Not a great deal to catch at hells gates....

There are beaches for catching gummy....black back ...mackeral ect....atlantic salmon....but the really good fish dont happen until you venture outside a few mile...
