hi all,

me and a few mates are heading up to coochin creek for a camp and fish this weekend, i've never been there before and was wondering what it's like? like is it a generally good spot, shallow or deep, common fish etc.

cheers all.

Salty,
Used to fish down Roys Rd, Coochin area a bit. Never did real well in Coochin itself. Have pulled Flathead and Cod from there, and seen some BIG sharks in there at times.
Great camp site and great looking water but never did real well for some unknown reason.
Used to catch heaps more in Passage proper rather than Coochin.
Go out and prove me wrong mate, I hope you do well and have a great time!

Cheers, Jeff.;)

Salty,
This time of the year it should be pretty quiet.
If you keep following Roys Rd, past the Coochin campsite turnoff on you right, past all the fruit packing sheds, you'll come to the passage. Little boat ramp down there, good little fishing spot. Takes about 5 mins from camp.

There's a boat ramp at end of campsite road as well. This spot looks very fishy also.

Good Luck.8-)

Coochin is one of my fav creeks. Caught some good cods, flatties and jacks there. Take your castnet along, you'll hopefully come across some good size prawns and watch out for the coffee rock going down the creek.
From the boat ramp, heading down Coochin, you will pass 2 small estuaries on the right hand side, coming up to a larger boat "moored" on land on the same side.. then Start watching out for the coffe rock .

Enjoy your weekend

Hi Spiro,

Plenty of crabs for sure, a few monster jacks - but few and far between.

Look forward to hearing how you go...planning to head that way in the next month or so. I do know you should take plenty of bushman...the midgies can carry you away (maybe not so mych in the cooler weather)
