Results on SP's at last: A Mangrove Jack !!!!!!

Caught 4am this morning off the Connection Rd Bridge, Nerang.

What a beast !!!
Caught on (wait for it !) Gulp Shrimp 2" nuclear chicken, 1/16 TT jighead, #2 hook, 8lb fireline, 10lb leader and about 30-40 casts.
Run-out tide, also scored a 25cm just-legal bream. There wasn't much doin' only a tiny handful of hits, but golly the jack put up quite a fight. Good to give my new reel (a supersmooth Silstar 5-bearing job I bought yesteday).
Even better I'm converted and will STICK WITH DA PLASTIC FANTASTIC. Yabbies for the rockwall, SP's for the Estuaries... Yes the gulps are over-hyped and over-rated, but I finally scored on them. Go nuclear chicken go go goooo!

But just check out the fangs on that thing !!!!
Don't go swimming naked in the Nerang river, one of these fellas might just come up and bite ya willy off !!!

Driving along Monaco St thru Broadbeach waters, it's clear to see them plastics are good for catching powerlines ;) there's a few dangling lines and SP's around the place. Overzealous casting is rampant around here !!
